We chatted to Joseph Noack, Managing Director of Apollo Multiserve Ltd. about their partnership with The Colchester Half Marathon and Joseph's outstanding fitness journey.
'Hey everyone, my name is Joseph Noack and I'm the Managing Director of Apollo Multiserve Ltd and I'm very proud to say we are a sponsor of this year's Colchester Half Marathon. I am taking part in this year's race and this will be my first ever half marathon.
I started running last July purely to try and lose some weight. I suffer from arthritis and after numerous hospital visits the consultants said that there isn't much more they can do and that I will have to live with it.
I was 23 stone at the time and I decided that I needed to lose some weight to help with the arthritis. So I took up running and since then I have lost around 4.5 stone!
I also started a couch to 5k group and in November of last year, I joined the Colchester Harriers running club and we meet up once a week. They are a great club and have a number of adult groups as well as children's groups.
I'd love to be around the 17.5 stone mark for the half marathon and currently I'm running up to 11 miles in my training plan. I have a goal in mind to try and finish the race in around 2.5 hours.
We decided to support the Colchester Half Marathon as someone in the Colchester Harriers group chat mentioned that the organisers were looking for sponsors. So I chatted with Toby Freeman from the Colchester Half Marathon team and jumped at the chance to come on board.
The half marathon is raising funds for a local charity called The Robin Cancer Trust and I'm all for helping local charities and these guys do fantastic work locally and nationally in raising awareness of testicular and ovarian cancer.
